Our Vision

The Wellbeing Service works within the core purpose of the Apricot Centre to ‘regenerate land, lives and livelihoods.

Our core values are ‘people care’,  ‘fair share’, and ‘earth care’ (Permaculture Ethics), leading to a holistic therapeutic approach guided by feedback from people and from nature (Process Oriented Psychology).

Our Aims

  • To enhance wellbeing in young people and families with complex needs, informed by theories of attachment, trauma, and child development

  • To provide an Adoption Support Service to Looked-after and Adopted children and carers and families.

  • To find the ‘Edge of Potential’ development for young people and families at the ‘edge of care’ or the ‘edge of education’.

  • To provide high quality initial assessments, multidisciplinary assessments, and bespoke therapeutic packages.

  • To provide individual and group therapeutic mentoring support young people struggling at home, in mainstream education or whom have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

  • To provide a welcoming and non-clinical setting which is nature-based.

  • To deliver ‘nature-based’ therapies and activities.

  • To enhance community resilience through facilitating community forums and projects.

  • To provide a proportion of low-cost therapeutic services or activities for those who are financially disadvantaged.

  • For young people to have an increased experience of wellbeing.

  • For carers and professionals - to facilitate and enhance your capacity to care while deepening your own experience of wellbeing.

  • For families - a deepening sense of ‘home’ and ‘belonging’ through valuing diversity in individuals and relationships.

We specialise in focusing on wellbeing benefits to young people from actively connecting with the land, food, creativity, and nature.

What Is Wellbeing?

Wellbeing means different things to different people. Our approach to wellbeing is discovering what makes us feel ‘well’ or ‘at home’ in ourselves, our families and communities, and in our relationship with nature. Wellbeing work can help build a sense of meaning and enhance our emotional/physical health or relationships.
