Nicola Revington
Clinical Psychologist (HCPC )
Having graduated as a Clinical Psychologist in 2008 in South Africa I have been fortunate to work with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families from diverse backgrounds in a broad variety of settings and contexts. I have worked in part-time private practice for 14 years as well as in university, corporate, and both inpatient and outpatient clinic and hospital settings in South Africa and the UK. I have also lectured and supervised training psychologists and counsellors, and run a variety of groups, including support groups, organisational, parenting, and educational groups.
In my assessment and psychotherapeutic work, I work in an integrative way depending on the particular needs of the individuals or groups I work with. Understandings from a psychodynamic orientation, cognitive behavioural therapy and systemic understandings, as well as attachment, trauma and developmental theory, inform my approach. My areas of interest include attachment theory and its usefulness in both therapy and non-therapy settings; broader developmental psychology; maternal wellbeing; emotionally focused therapy; and mindfulness-based therapies.
I have been fortunate to continue to learn and grow through my rich work experiences, and value creating safe spaces for support and understanding.
