Art Psychotherapist

I am an HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist who has a wide range of experience of working with different client groups in both statutory services, in education and third sector settings. I graduated from the University of South Wales in 2018 and since then have been working for different charities in South Devon. My background was in teaching, both English and Art and also working for day services for Adults with additional learning needs. I was actively involved with coordinating the regional British Association of Art Therapists group for two years, providing a nurturing space for Art Therapists across Devon and Cornwall to meet and learn together.

I use a range of Art Psychotherapy interventions to support my clients to better understand themselves and process their life experiences. I have specialised in working with children and young people with a range of different needs over the past five years. I have worked over the last three years with many children who are adopted or in foster care supporting them through their processes. I am interested in movement and art therapy, and eco art therapy and these are two areas which I intend to study more thoroughly in the coming years.

My approach to therapy is person centred. I believe that given nourishing and safe life conditions that everybody has the ability to reach their full potential, heal and thrive. This approach is based around acceptance, honesty and empathy in my approach to sessions.

I also have my own art practice where I explore my own world and life experiences. I work from my studio in the centre of Totnes. When I am not working, I am usually at the beach, in the sea, paddle boarding or sitting around a fire with friends and family. I really enjoy living in Devon and being so close to all of the abundant nature all around us.
